Common ion Effect and Diverse ion Effect

This Suppression and Dissociation of a weak Electrolyte in the Presence of strong Electrolyte Both having common ion.

Common ion Effect and Diverse ion Effect

Example

  • Weak : HCN ( hydrogen cyanide )
  • Strong: KCN

The Dissociation of electrolyte is decreased by adding the solution a strong electrolyte that has an ion in common with the weak electrolyte.

Diverse ion effect

This is just opposite of the common and effect.
